Course Materials:

Each participant receives a 50-page workbook for reference and documenting decisions made during the session about how Project Server or Project Online is to be configured to meet the organization’s needs.

 

Who Would Benefit From Attending:

This course is beneficial for those:

  • responsible for configuring Microsoft Project Server 2013 or Project Online for use in the larger organization,
  • who want to get an understanding of the range of functionality that Project Server 2013 and Project Online offer so that they can make decisions about how the software might best be used in their organization.

Typical attendees will be members of the Project Management Office (PMO) or in management or another role in which they will influence or be responsible for the way Project Server or Project Online is used in the organization. This is usually a small core group of people. Note that the course is not intended for end users as it emphasizes configuration rather than the use of Project Server or Project Online. The course also does not address installation of software, configuring hardware, migrating from one version of Project Server to another and some of the more technical traditional IT topics associated with the deployment of Microsoft Project Server. Essentially, this course assumes that the organization already has access to Project Server or Project Online, or will have it shortly, and that the software then needs to be configured in order to be used effectively.

 

Course Credits:

Attendees will receive credit for 7 contact hours of project management training good toward PMI®‘s CAPM or PMP® project management certification.

PMP®s will receive 7 PDUs good toward re-certification.

Course Format:

A mix of discussions, demonstrations in Microsoft Project Server or Project Online and explanation of concepts on flip charts or whiteboards. Each participant will have their own Microsoft Project Server environment to work in so that they can work through the settings as they’re introduced and discussed in the class as well as a copy of Schedule Associates’ Microsoft Project Server & Project Online Configuration Workbook.

 

Prerequisites:

Some familiarity with project management and portfolio management concepts is assumed.

It is helpful if attendees have defined some goals for what they want to achieve through the use of Microsoft Project Server or Project Online in their organization.

Attendees should also be familiar with how to navigate around Microsoft Windows applications prior to class.
