Scheduling Professional Certification Available

The Project Management Institute or PMI® has introduced the PMI Scheduling Professional, or PMI-SPsm, certification...

for those individuals with extensive project scheduling experience who want to demonstrate their knowledge and experience through the attainment of a professional credential. Taking its place along side of PMI®'s project and program management credentials, the PMI-SPsm is the newest credential to be available through the Project Management Institute, the main professional organization for US-based project managers.

Attaining the credential requires passing an exam consisting of 170 questions covering creation, management and analysis of schedules within 3.5 hours.

Prior to sitting for the exam candidates with a bachelor's degree or equivalent will need to demonstrate that they have a minimum of 3,500 hours of scheduling experience in the last five years. (Candidates holding a high school diploma or associates degree will be required to have 5,000 hours of scheduling experience.)

30 hours of training are also required (40 for those without a bachelor's degree) prior to being able to sit for the exam.

Re-certification is required every three years in order to maintain the credential.

More information on the credential can be obtained at PMI®'s website.
