Project Management for Non-Project Managers
|
1 Day, Course Number: 2033-PM0002
After Attending This Seminar You Will Be Able to…
Plan and manage small projects ranging from individual efforts to those involving small teams of two to five people.
As part of planning the project, get it started in an organized fashion, define what the project is, develop a schedule, identify risks to the project's success, and finalize the plan.
Communicate effectively as the project progresses, identify and manage issues as they arise during the course of the project, manage changes in order to keep the project on track, assess how well your project is doing relative to your plan, and motivate team members to accomplish their tasks.
Bring the project to closure and learn from it so that you can manage the next project more effectively.
Course Materials:
All attendees receive a Schedule Associates exclusive reference manual on project management developed specifically for this course. This guide serves as a thorough reference to what was covered in the course as well as a course workbook and is available only to those attending this Schedule Associates course.
In addition, attendees receive access to Schedule Associates’ password-protected Back-at-Work-BonusTM, an online collection of templates for use in implementing project management techniques in the workplace.
Hardcopies of any overheads used in the session are included in the course materials.
Who Would Benefit From Attending:
This course is beneficial for anyone who is responsible for, or being given more responsibility for, managing small less formal projects and who has no previous training in project management. The course is intended for those who will not be full-time project managers. Rather, potential attendees have been asked to lead a small team of one to five people in accomplishing a particular goal in addition to performing their regular job responsibilities.
Ideal attendees are "casual project managers" interested in getting more structured, organized, and efficient in leading these small efforts. Attendees may include team leads, analysts, technical leads, administrative assistants, functional managers, supervisors, scientists, developers, graphic designers, and others.
Course Credits:
Attendees will receive credit for 7 contact hours of project management training good toward PMIâ’s CAPM or PMPâ project management certification. However, those interested in certification are encouraged to take Project Management Principles and Practices instead as that is a more extensive course.
