November 12, 2009–Schedule Associates International has introduced a course for those new to project management called Project Management for Non-Project Managers. The course provides an overview of project management and gives attendees a framework for managing projects as well as practice with some of the key tools of project management.

One of the unique features of the course is a course workbook that attendees use to conduct preliminary planning of one of their own projects. Through the use of this tool class participants are able to link the content of the course with what they have going on back at their place of work and to leave the one-day session with a start on planning one of their projects.

“This course is interesting in that it was created solely in response to customer requests,” notes David Kaiser, co-founder and partner of Schedule Associates. We were working with more and more people who aren’t full-time project managers and who don’t have the job title “project manager,” but were responsible for moving small projects forward, folks variously referred to as “casual,” “ad-hoc” or “accidental project managers.” They were looking for some structure, a framework, with which to organize and execute their projects. We feel this course gives them that, while recognizing that most people in this position aren’t prepared to spend a lot of time in training for project management. Thus, the course is just a day long.”

Like all Schedule Associates project management and Microsoft Project courses, Project Management for Non-Project Managers is listed with the Project Management Institute, or PMI®.
